Parts Needed All Availiable
From Radio Shack: |
First you will need to cut the shaft of the Potentiometer to about 1/2". Next, using an ohm meter set to ohms find the two tabs that the meters needle moves while turning the potentiometer shaft. As you can see I used the center and left tabs. Solder two wires to each of these two tabs. Then solder one wire from each tab to the phone jacks. |

Drill a hole for the two jacks in each end of the project box and one in the lid for the potentiometer. Now install the assembly into the box as shown (this may take some work it's a tight fit).
|
Now install the lid, potentiometer nut, and knob and you're ready to go. Just plug this unit in between the module and hi-hat pedal, adjust for you're prefered setting and play! |
|
You can easily
make this unit footswitchable. Solder the two 1/4" jacks together tip
tab to tip tab and
sleeve tab to sleeve
tab. Next solder a wire to each tab of one of the jacks soldering one
of these to the potentiometer the other to a pushbutton on/off switch.
Next solder a wire between the potentiometer and the other switch tab.
All thats left is to mount this in a box and it's ready for action.
Now you can have the normal hat or the sound you have dialed in at the
push of the switch. You might have to look for a decent switch Radio
Shack doesn't have any that look like they would hold up to a foot..
